About the Class

  • This class is an introduction to stained glass — perfect for beginners or anyone curious to try the craft for the first time.

  • You’ll get hands-on experience with wrapping each piece in copper foil and with soldering it all together. To keep the experience approachable, cutting and grinding the glass will be completed in advance.

  • Everything you need is provided - Glass, tools, solder, and guidance every step of the way. Just show up ready to make some amazing art that is yours to take home.

  • Classes are kept small so everyone gets one-on-one help when they need it. The instructor will provide a demonstration for each specific task, as students reach that task.

  • The max group size for this class is 6 students and sign up is first come first serve.. This class is 3 hours long, plenty of time to finish your piece without feeling rushed.

The Art of Stained Glass

Sassy Glass Studio creates its stained glass in the Tiffany Style, which includes a few key steps:

Cutting the Glass into specific shapes

Grinding the Edges of the Glass

Applying copper foil around each piece of glass

Soldering the foil to fuse the glass into its final shape

  • Stained glass can seem like a difficult craft, but once the steps are understood and with our non-judgmental guidance, it becomes very approachable..

  • While Stained Glass is a safe craft when the rules of the class are followed, but when working with hot soldering irons and sharp glass, there is always the possibility for slight burns and cuts.

  • It is best to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes when working with hot soldering irons and sharp glass.

  • We understand that things come up, and you can absolutely cancel your attendance with a full refund up to 7 days before the date of the class.

  • Each class session provides plenty of time to finish each piece, but we understand that not everyone has the same learning style or confidence level. If you don’t finish your piece in time, studio staff will finish whatever is left and will schedule a time for you to pick it up at a later date.
